This website is owned and operated by Cambridge Escapes Room Ltd under the trading name “Exit Rooms”, an escape room provider (hereafter “We”, “our”, “us” or “Cambridge Escape Rooms”). Cambridge Escape Rooms believes in fairness and openness in the collection, use, retention, sharing and disclosure (collectively, “processing”) of personal data. This Privacy notice therefore describes our approach to processing of personal data in connection with www.exitrooms.co.uk (hereafter, the “site”), and provides information regarding your rights and our obligations with respect to the protection of personal information in compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please read this notice carefully because it provides the manner in which we deal with information we hold about you. Cambridge Escape Rooms determines the purposes for which personal data is collected and therefore acts as the Data Controller when processing your data.

  • Information Collection:
    Cambridge Escape Rooms processes your personal data so as to be able to provide its products and services in an effective way and perform its statutory or contractual obligations. We do not collect data indiscriminately and we do not use data about you for purposes other than those specified in this notice. We collect data in the following ways:
    • Information you provide to us: Cambridge Escape Rooms may collect personal data voluntarily provided or made available by you when you, for example, contact us directly, subscribe to our mailing list, interact with us via our social media accounts, or book an escape room via the website. Information we may collect this way include:

      • Telephone and mobile number
      • Physical address
    • Payment information: We do not collect or store credit or debit card data. We use Bookify to process online bookings and Stripe to process online payments and these booking/payment vendors may collect your credit card information so as to process your purchases made on or through the site. Please note that payment processors do not share financial information with us and we do not control how they handle personal and financial information.
    • Information concerning website usage: We may also automatically obtain data about you by tracking and registering how you interact with our website and services. Information we collect this way may include:
      • The domain name of your internet service,
      • Type, version and settings of the browser you are using to access the site,
      • The type and operating system of the device used to access the site,
      • The particular pages viewed on the site,
      • The website that linked you to our website (referrer), as well as
      • Date and time of visit.

    • Consent: We will collect, use and store your personal data in accordance with your consent so as to provide services requested by you including for example creating a member account, booking an escape room, processing your orders or supplying information requested by you.
    • Performance of contract. We will collect your personal data in order to perform any contract between you and us or to provide services and ensure that escape room bookings are confirmed and communicated to you via communication channels of your choice. We may also collect personal data as necessary for carry out your requests or instructions prior to entering into contract.
    • Compliance with Law/Legal obligation: We may use, retain and disclose personal data in accordance with the law or to comply with any obligation to which we are subject including for example for tax audit, accounting or labour law compliance purposes. We may disclose personal data in response to legitimate requests by law enforcement, judicial process and/or governmental regulatory bodies.
    • Legitimate Interest: We will from time to send marketing information to you where we believe that such information is beneficial to, and reasonably expected, by you as a customer and in our legitimate interests. We may also share website usage data to our business partners including for example our current or potential investors, sponsors, advertisers and technical support providers.   • How We Use Personal Data: In accordance with the lawful bases described above, we use data we collect for the following purposes
    • To provide access to our website and escape room gamer services (including improvement and personalisation)
    • To process quotes and online orders and payments
    • To process gift vouchers
    • To run contest, promotions, competition and other site activities.
    • To communicate with our users including responding to enquiries, reviews, feedback and provide customer support.
    • To send marketing information (news, updates and special offers) on the basis of consent or in our legitimate interest.

Cambridge Escape Rooms understands that users are concerned about the integrity and confidentiality of their personal data and in this concern, Cambridge Escape Rooms reiterates that it does not share or disclose your personal data except where (a) you clearly permit us to do so, (b) the law compels us to share or disclose data, or (c) sharing or disclosure is necessary for the provision of goods and services requested by you. Cambridge Escape Rooms have has data processing agreements with  third parties to whom we share information and such third parties agree not to use personal information for purposes other than those specified in this notice.

  • enable our affiliated third parties, contractors or service providers to deliver goods and/or services on our behalf in accordance with our Terms and Conditions

Cambridge Escape Rooms does not keep personal data without legitimate reason. We will only retain data for as long as is needed to provide services requested by you and in accordance with the law. For example, we may retain certain data to comply with our tax reporting and/or audit obligations. Cambridge Escape Rooms will discard data where: (a) it no longer needs the data in relation to the purpose for which it was collected or obtained (b) consent for processing has been withdrawn, or (c) processing has been restricted or objected to.

Cambridge Escape Rooms has carried out certain technical and organisational measures necessary to protect personal data against inadvertent loss or prohibited access, use, alteration, disclosure or destruction. To assist with the protection of the integrity of personal information, we use standard commercial Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology to encrypt personal and payment information provided on or through the Site.  We also take measures as required by the GDPR to ensure that online identifiers such as IP addresses are anonymized so that they do not identify you as a particular individual. If we do so, our inclusion is not and endorsement of those site’s reliability, security or availability. Cambridge Escape Rooms will not accept liability for loss or harm suffered in connection with external links hosted on our website.
